BAKERSFIELD - The Marauder baseball team got off to a good start by scoring a run in the top of the first inning against Bakersfield College, but the Renegades settled down and cruised to an easy 6-1 victory, Thursday afternoon at Gerry Collis Field in Bakersfield.
The Marauders continued thier slump and have now lost 12 of 14 games. Over the past three games, AVC's offense has been MIA as it has only accounted for three runs during that stretch.
The Renegades' Monty Stevens shut down the Marauder bats. Stevens, who is perfect ont eh season with a 6-o record, pitched seven strong innings, allowing only six hits and struck out six batters.
The only hiccup by Stevens came in the top of the first inning, following an RBI single by Ian Nelson which scored Arturo Sanchez, who doubled earlier in the inning to leadoff the game.
Over his last three games, Sanchez is batting .500, by going 2-for-4 in each of those games.
