MARAUDER BASEBALL TEAM ENDS LOSING STREAK AGAINST CITRUS

GLENDORA - For the first two games of the series against Citrus College, the Marauder baseball team was pounded by a combined scored of 23-8.
AVC was able to salvage the series with a 4-2 victory, Friday afternoon at Citrus College. The Marauders are 4-4 away from home this season and a dismal 2-9 at Marauder Stadium.
Arturo Sanchez was impressive on the mound for the Marauders picking up his first win of the season. Sanchez (1-3) pitched eight strong innings giving up only two earned runs while scattering seven hits and striking out five.
With the score tied 1-1 in the top of the eighth inning, Travis Tarnoff walked with one out. That was followed by a single by Tyler Pittmon and Timothy Dodd which loaded the bases. Tarnoff scored on a balk and Ian Nelson and Clayton Rabiej promptly banged in two more runs for AVC giving it a 4-1 lead.
Brian Yount earned his first save of the season for the Marauders as he shut down the Owls in the bottom of the ninth inning.
Dodd extended his hitting streak to seven games. During that stretch he has been tattooing the ball with a batting average of .452 (12-for-26), with eight RBI and six runs.
