Antelope Valley Track & Field hosted their second meet in as many weeks as they welcomed Glendale, Moorpark, Santa Monica, and West LA to the Western State Conference South Meet.
Antelope Valley Track & Field hosted their second meet in as many weeks as they welcomed Glendale, Moorpark, Santa Monica, and West LA to the Western State Conference South Meet.
Highlights for the women included six first-place finished on the day. Briann Brazill won the 100--meter finals with a time of 12.84. Kayla Thompson finished first in the 200-meter (25.45) and 400-meter (58.68) finals. Kasey Gibbs took first in the shot put with a mark of 31'8.75". Gibbs also placed second in the hammer throw with a distance of 112'9".
The team of Kayla Thompson, Briann Brazill, Sara Morales, and Celeste Meza won the 4x100-meter relay (51.46) and the 4x400-meter relay (4:23.14). Prishencia Nnoham finished second in the 200-meter and third in the 400-meter finals, while Celeste Meza finished third in the 100-meter and 400-meter hurdles.
On the men's side, Jordan Kennon tied for first in the long jump with a distance of 18'9.25". He also placed third in the high jump and fourth in the triple jump. Mikaili Bankhead placed third, while Tyreese Conner placed seventh in the 400-meter finals. Mitchell Reading placed fourth in the javelin as well as the 110-meter hurdles, while Jacob Jimenez had a third-place finish in the hammer throw.
AVC women fished second behind Moorpark in team scores, while the men finished 5th. Their next meet will be at Bakersfield on March 11-12.
