DORMAN WINS SUBJECT AREA AWARD

Marauder Athletics congratulates Makayla Dorman on being a 2021 Subject Area Award winner! The Subject Area Awards are an opportunity for each department at Antelope Valley College to highlight the students who have shown excellence in their discipline. The students are nominated by at least two faculty members, and each department selects the final awardees.

"Makayla has displayed great consistency both from an athletic and academic standpoint." Remarked head coach Patrick Londono. "Makayla has meant a lot to our golf program at AVC through her accomplishments as an All-Conference talent and Subject Area Award recipient." 
 
Subject Area Award winners are usually honored by their nominating faculty at the Annual Honors Convocation. This year, due to COVID, they were not able to hold the event. Instead, each student was contacted by the Honors Program Co-Coordinators and sent a certificate of their Subject Area Award. Nominating faculty set up zoom meetings to congratulate their students personally, after they received their certificate.
