THEOLOGIDY, GONZALEZ CAPTURE TOP 20 FINISHES AT SANTA CLARITA
SANTA CLARITA - Mariah Theologidy finished fourth overall in the Southern California Preview held at Central Park in Santa Clarita Friday afternoon with many of the region's best competing.
Theologidy improved on her performance in late August at the Oxnard Invitational where she finished fifth. Theologidy crossed the line in 19:17.73 just behind Glendale College's Angelica Salas (18:50.60), College of the Canyons' Diani Ellis (18:58.32) and Riverside College's Sarah Hollis (18:58.51). Salas also won the meet in Oxnard.
"We raced a tough course today, but I thought they showed a lot of heart as they battled with some great competition," AVC head coach Josh Villalobos said. "We still have a lot of work to do, but this race showed us where we are in comparison to the other colleges here in Southern California. This gives us the opportunity to train hard and come back during Championship time better than ever."
Joining Theologidy in the top 20 was Carolina Gonzalez. Gonzalez finished in 20:39.83 to finish 19th.
The Marauders didn't have enough runners to vie for the team title. Glendale won the meet followed by COC and Mt. SAC.
