SYLMAR - The Marauder women's volleyball team won its second match in a row after defeating LA Mission College, 25-20, 20-25, 25-18, 25-15, victory over the Eagles Wednesday evening at Mission College.
"This win was great tonight. The team has been working really hard on their unity and focusing on the next play while cutting out a lot of the negativity that comes along with team sports," AVC head coach Mark Cruz. "Along with their focus, the team has also been able to execute our game plan."
Kaeley Avendano led the Marauders (4-9, 2-2) with 14 kills and 11 digs, registering her fourth double-double of the season. Taylor Williams was the catalyst for AVC as she finished with 26 assists and five blocks.
"We came out together as one unit, and when one person fell down we all put that teammate on our shoulders and fought on playing as a team," Williams said. "We didn't play as individuals, instead we played for each other and I think that's why we won."
Melissa Lee finished with a career-high with 23 digs, nearly doubling her season best of 14 earlier this season against College of the Desert. Valerie Ramirez and Elizabeth Perez chipped in on the defensive side with 14 and 12 digs respectively.
