PALM DESERT - At times the Marauder women's volleyball team looks like a legitimate contender. Other times it is still looking for its identity.
The Marauders lost their second match in a row at the hands of College of the Desert, 25-14, 25-19, 15-25, 25-19, Friday evening on the campus of COD.
"I think we gave it our all. We really came together as one unit even though we lost we trusted each other like a big family and improved a lot from Wednesday's game (a loss against Rio Hondo College)," AVC setter Taylor Williams said. "We lost together as a team, instead of losing as individuals."
The Marauders (1-2) showed signs of dominance, which was evident after easily winning the third set and getting back into the match. The fourth set was tight, unfortunately for AVC, the Roadrunners (2-3) were able to hold on.
Williams finished with 21 assists and 10 digs. Teammate Melissa Lee had seven kills and 14 digs and Kaeley Avendano led AVC with nine kills and added nine digs.
