MARAUDER TENNIS ENDS 10-MATCH LOSING SKID, WINS FIRST CONFERENCE MATCH

SANTA MONICA - The Marauder tennis team snapped its 10-game losing streak since winning its first match of the season and with it gained its first conference match of the season with an easy 8-1 victory over host Santa Monica College.
AVC dominated the singles' matches winning each one, including No. 1 player Celsea McGrew who defeated Santa Monica's Masa Petrovic in a thriller, 7-6 (9-7), 7-6 (7-5). Earlier this season when McGrew and Petrovic met, McGrew had no trouble with a 6-1, 6-0 victory.
It took Karly Britton three sets to fend off Lauren Voiers, 6-1, 2-6, 7-5. Laney Ricker also won in three sets against Sammie Xiao, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5. Kaity Huston and Nina Nguimzon each won in straight sets for AVC.
Britton and Nguimzon teamed up in doubles to dominate Xiao and Maya Narumi, 8-0. The Corsairs lone victory came in doubles after Petrovic and Voiers defeated McGrew and Ricker, 9-7.
