Charles Gordon enters his sixth season as Head Coach of the Antelope Valley College Men’s Soccer Program and his tenth season as Head Coach of the Women’s Soccer Program, bringing with him a distinguished record of leadership, player development, and competitive success.

An alumnus of Antelope Valley College, Gordon earned his Associate of Arts degree before completing a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology at California State University, Northridge. He went on to obtain a Professional Teaching Credential from California State University, Bakersfield, and a Master’s degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University, Irvine. As a student-athlete, he captained the NCAA Division I Matador Soccer Team at CSUN, where he earned multiple Most Valuable Player and All-Tournament honors. He also received all-conference recognition as a football player at AVC. At Chatsworth High School, Gordon distinguished himself as a team captain, most valuable player, and all-league selection.

Since taking the helm at Antelope Valley College, Coach Gordon has established a culture rooted in character, professionalism, and the program’s mission, vision, philosophy, and core values. Under his leadership, the Marauders earned their first Western State East Conference Championships in 2018, 2020, and 2022. These accomplishments built upon a historic 2017 women’s season that featured the program’s first playoff victory, as well as a milestone 2021 season that secured the men’s program’s first playoff berth.

Beyond success on the field, Coach Gordon has prioritized service and community engagement. Both the Men’s and Women’s Soccer Programs are actively involved in initiatives that include supporting the less fortunate, visiting senior communities, and raising awareness for causes such as veterans’ support, breast cancer, leukemia, and suicide prevention. In addition, the programs maintain strong ties to local youth through free soccer camps, tournaments, and the Jr. Marauders Program, reinforcing the team’s commitment to growth, mentorship, and community impact.

Gordon’s broader coaching career reflects a consistent standard of excellence. He has been recognized as the CCCAA Western State East Coach of the Year and has served as Director of the California Elite Soccer Club of the Antelope Valley since 2006, where he has guided teams to multiple League Cup titles and State, Regional, and National Championships. His impact on youth development was further acknowledged with the Nike and Cal South Youth Soccer Excellence in Coaching Award.

At Campbell Hall College Preparatory High School, Gordon founded the school’s first-ever girls’ soccer program, in addition to serving as the football defensive coordinator and coaching both baseball and volleyball. At Quartz Hill High School, he established himself as the winningest soccer coach in Antelope Valley High School District history, earning repeated selections as a High Desert All-Star Coach and multiple nominations as a CIF Southern Section All-Star Coach
