WOMEN'S SOCCER MOVES INTO THE FIRST SLOT IN CONFERENCE
In a much anticipated battle with conference defending champion College of the Canyons, the AVC Marauder Women's Soccer Team showed up with a dominating shut out performance. The Marauders moved in first place by outscoring the Cougars 3-0. Bianca Carrillo opened the attack early in the first half with a banger from outside the box. Evencia Welch would continue to dominate throughout the match as she finished an additional goal in the first half and another goal in the second. Additionally, Shayla Diaz posted two assisted and Mackayla Barragan gave one. "The team unity was inspiring this evening and they performed very well. We look forward to continued growth and our next game verse Victor Valley this coming Tuesday. The coaches and I are very proud of the players, their work ethic, and their continued development", said Coach Gordon. Goal keeper Amanda Lujan recorded the shutout with a very stingy back line of Lindsey McDermott, Jocelyn Salvatierra, Katie Arnold and Emilee Sibbald leading the defense stand. Likewise, midfield play led by Kelsey Ruiz, Bianca Carrillo, McKenna Nowalk, Mackayla Barragan and Rayleen Stacy was stellar. As well, the climate was electric this evening as the AVC Drum Line provided entertainment with an amazing performance to an enthusiastic large crowd of community support. Halftime entertainment included youth soccer organizations California Elite Soccer Club and Lightening soccer Club girls 2006 players enjoying game play together as numerous participants from the crowd of support engaged in "soccer games" to win prizes. Tonight was an amazing evening filled with community pride!" GO MARAUDERS!
