LANCASTER - The Marauder women's soccer team had no trouble with Glendale College for the second time this season by defeating the Vaqueros, 7-2, behind Alyssa Sanchez' hat trick, Tuesday evening at Marauder Stadium.
"I thought we could have done a lot better, but we did good. We could have used this game to work on some of the things we need to work on," said Sanchez. "It took me a while to get in the groove this season because I arrived late. But I think we're in a really good place right now about ready to start conference. We've improved so much."
Marina Rebollar added one goal and three assists for AVC (6-2-1) and teammate Lindsey McDermott chipped in with a goal and two assists. Lynnette Diaz added two goals for the Marauders. Sanchez complemented her three goals with an assist as well.
Sanchez got things rolling only 14 seconds into the first half with a goal off the assist by McDermott. Only two minutes later Sanchez was at it again as she put AVC up 2-0 with her second goal. Diaz and Rebollar added goals at 6:32 and 7:48 respectively putting the Marauders up 4-0.
Glendale (1-8) finally got on the scoreboard with a goal at 18:23 in the first half. Still the Marauders took a commanding 5-2 lead into halftime.
The Marauders, which has already defeated the Vaqueros once this season, will host West LA College at "Pack the Stands" night at Marauder Stadium. Anyone is welcome to come out and watch AVC take on the Wildcats. Admission is free.
