LANCASTER - The Marauder women's soccer team was defeated by Santa Monica College, 1-0, Tuesday afternoon at Marauder Stadium.
"It was a hard fought battle, but Santa Monica was able to convert in the final minute of the game," AVC head coach Charles Gordon said. "Both teams competed relentlessly and showed well. Our team will take many lessons from this game and continue to improve. We would also like to thank our 12th man as the fans proved extremely supportive of the program."
The Corsairs spoiled a stout defensive effort by the Marauders, especially by goal keep Gabriela Espinzoa who finished with 11 saves.
Santa Monica scored at 88:34, just before the clock sounded to end the second half, by Daysi Serrano which proved to be the game winner.
The Corsairs outshot AVC, 19-5.
