GLENDALE - Rielly Rasmussen scored her third goal of the season to help lead the Marauder women's soccer team to a convincing 5-0 victory over Glendale College, Friday afternoon.
"The team worked hard this past week on the areas needing growth, as well as becoming more consistent with our strengths," AVC head coach Charles Gordon said. "Today's game was a reflection of their preparation."
After being defeated 3-0 earlier this week against Pierce College, the Marauders took out their frustrations on the Vaqueros (0-2).
The match marked the second shutout for AVC and goalkeeper Gabriela Espinoza. Espinoza finished with six saves and AVC outshot Glendale 27-18.
The Marauders (2-1) had an easy time in their opening match of the season with an easy 9-0 victory against Cerro Coso College. In two victories this season, AVC has outscored its opponents 14-0.
Jeannette Bogarin added a goal and an assist for the Marauders. On the season, Bogarin has scored two goals and assisted on two others. Lindsey McDermott, Alyssa Sanchez and Vivian Jauregui each scored goals for AVC. Rasmussen scored at 42:35 in the first half and the Marauders led 2-0 at halftime.
