AVC was down 34-22 at the halfway mark but put together an impressive 19-6 third quarter to take a 1-point lead heading into the final period. The 4th quarter went down to the last possession and was a 15-15 draw, giving the Marauders the win.
Athieng Bol led the Marauders with a 21-point, 13-rebound double-double. Mona Fajardo scored a season-high 20 points, including 6 three-pointers. The Freshman guard from Eastside High leads AVC in 3-point shooting on the season at 43.8%, with 34 made from behind the arch.
Shaniya Sinclair had a game-high 16 rebounds and continues to lead the Western State-South Conference with 12.1 rebounds per game. Zaniyah Wyatt was one assist shy of the game high with 9 and scored 6 points, while Betzy Alvarado chipped in 3 points.
The Marauders are 12-8 overall and will battle College of the Canyons next in a conference matchup on Saturday, Feb. 1st, at 3:00 pm.
