Marauder Athletics congratulates Alexa Alvarez and Ariel Nieto for receiving All-State and All-American recognition.
Marauder Softball infielders Alexa Alvarez and Ariel Nieto made California Community College Athletic Association's All-State Softball team, while Nieto also received All-American honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
Nieto finished the season with a team-leading .500 batting average, 39 RBI, 24 runs, and seven home runs. "I put in a lot of hard work after last season, and one thing that has kept me going was wanting to be a player like the ones I looked up to last year. If it weren't for the coaches who never stopped believing in me, then I wouldn't be where I am." remarked Ariel.
Alvarez led the Marauders in hits with 34 and at-bats with 73 on the year. She had the team's second-highest batting average at .466 and tied for second in RBI with 19. "This season, I just let go and had fun! Thanks to my coaches for pushing me these past couple of years. AVC Softball is an amazing program, and I'll cherish all the memories and fun moments forever!" said Alvarez.
