VENTURA - The Marauder softball team had only one hit against Ventura, but that didn't matter as it was able to score two runs in the top of the fourth inning and defeat the Pirates in the first round of the Southern California Regionals at Ventura College.
The Marauders lone hit came from Samantha Arriola of Ventura starting pitcher Anissa Padilla.
AVC trailed 1-0 entering the top of the fourth inning before scoring two unearned runs off Padilla. Those two runs were scored by Ashley Fiorelli and Sierra Fiala.
Marauders' starting pitcher Taylor Roberts was stellar on the mound allowing only four hits and one earned run while pitching a complete game.
AVC will play Ventura again on Saturday at noon with a chance to advance to the Super Regionals.
