LANCASTER - Defending state champion Palomar College entered Antelope Valley College Wednesday afternoon and left with an easy 14-0 victory over the Marauder softball team in five innings.
It didn't take long for Palomar to get rolling as it scored four runs in the top of the first inning and six runs in the top of the second to take a commanding 10-0 lead.
AVC's bats were pretty silent on the afternoon as they accounted for only two hits, both coming from pitchers Maria Acosta and Naelyse Garcia.
Palomar College pounded out 13 hits including three hits apiece from Iesha Hill and Taylour Fa'asua.
"We just got beat by a better team today," Marauders head coach Cindy Vargas said. "Their bats were too much for us to handle and we couldn't touch their pitcher. We just need to leave this one behind us and look forward."
Two of AVC's three losses this season have come to ranked opponents: Palomar (No. 2 in the state) and Mt. SAC (No. 9 in the state).
