PASADENA - The Marauder softball team had its opportunities in the top of the seventh inning to either tie the game or go ahead with the bases loaded and only one out, but its rally was halted in the end and Pasadena City College held on for a 5-4 win Wednesday afternoon.
AVC's Tawnee Hegre pitched well giving up only three runs on four hits. Dolly Stevens was 2-for-4 at the plate with one RBI for the Marauders.
AVC was held scoreless for the first five innings and trailed 3-0 entering the top of the sixth inning. The Marauders were able to score a run in the top of the sixth inning, however, gave up two more in the bottom half of the inning to trail 5-1.
"The bats came alive a little too late," AVC head coach Cindy Vargas said. "Unfortunately we were not able to get the hit we needed in the seventh inning."
Mia Acosta was 1-for-3 on the afternoon and led the Marauders with two RBI. Jennifer Littlejohn added a hit and an RBI for AVC which finished with nine hits on the day.
