MARAUDER MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY FINISHES FOURTH IN BAKERSFIELD, AGUIRRE TAKES FIFTH
BAKERSFIELD - The Marauders men's cross country team had its best output of the season as it placed fourth overall at the Bakersfield Invitational Friday afternoon in Bakersfield.
"The team continues to make great progress as we move closer to championship time," AVC head coach Josh Villalobos said. "Next week we travel to Citrus College for the Western State Conference Preview meet which gives us an opportunity to race against teams in our conference and make final adjustments until our conference championships."
The Marauders were led by Samuel Aguirre who finished fifth overall with a time of 21:40.00 behind Ventura College's Adan Cruz who won the race (21:09.00), Oxnard College's Juan Martinez (21:22.00), Ventura's Jacob Hernandez (21:34.00) and Bakersfield College's Marcos Mulato (21:38.00).
Matthew Rose was the second finisher for the Marauders when he crossed the line in 23:53.00. Teammates Nicholas Franco and Ikenna Achara finished 29th and 35th with times of 23:58.00 and 25:02.00 respectively. Brock Ruble finished in 25:49.00 to finish 39th.
Ventura won the meet while Bakersfield finished second. Both teams had three runners place in the top 10.
