MARAUDER MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY TEAM CONTINUES TO STRUGGLE
BAKERSFIELD - Two weeks ago in Irvine was a pretty good indicator where the Marauder men's cross country team stacked up against the rest of the schools in southern California at the So Cal Preview.
Unfortunately, the Marauders finished a disappointing 23rd.
On Friday in Bakersfield, AVC wanted to gauge how it might fare against teams in its own conference. The result was not so good.
Of the 12 teams that competed, the Marauders finished 11th and for the second race in a row have continued to struggle. Glendale College won the meet as it had five of the top six runners cross the tape. The Vaqueros' other two runners finished ninth and 16th overall.
Alejandro Ambrossio (Glendale) took first overall with a time of 21:00.95. He finished 19th two weeks ago in Irvine finishing at 21:28.36. Teammates Luis Celaya and Shane Thompson finished 2-3 in a tight battle for second. Celaya crossed the line at 21:01.48 while Thompson was third in 21:01.96. Thompson was fourth at the So Cal Preview in Irvine.
AVC's top runner was Fernando Flores who finished 43rd at 23:01.33. Cody Watson (55th) ran 23:41.36 and Lucas Trivisonno (71st) finished with a time of 24:21.17.
Ventura College, which had five runners finish in the top 25, finished second overall, followed by College of the Canyons.
