Bio

Jerry Stupar (pronounced stew-par) became the Marauders’ fourth Head Women’s Soccer Coach in 10 years and immediately turned around a struggling program.  The Marauders had their best finish in the Foothill Conference, best overall record and most wins in a season.

  Then in 2009 it just kept getting better as the Marauders shattered records for wins, shutouts, winning percentage and goals allowed.  The Marauders made the playoffs for the first time and Stupar was named Foothill Conference Coach of the Year.  

    In 2011 the Marauder's won their first Foothill Conference championship, had their first conference Player of the Year in Stacy Guijarro and he was again named Conference Coach of the Year.

Also in 2011, Stupar was selected as the Southern California coach for the State All-Star game, which was won by the South 5-0 - the only shutout and the highest number of goals in the game's history.Before coming to AVC, Stupar spent five years as the men’s and women’s head assistant soccer coach at College of the Canyons.  Stupar assisted in developing the Cougars’ inaugural men’s soccer program in 2003 and was on staff when the women won the 2004 Western State Conference.  

    Stupar, has more than 15 years of coaching experience, and was the head coach of boy’s varsity soccer at Valencia High School from 1996 to 2001.  He had a two-year stint as the co-head coach for the varsity boy’s soccer team at Wm. S. Hart High School from 1994 to 1996. He also coached boys and girls club soccer for Santa Clarita United, which included players from Hart’s 1997 girl’s and

Valencia’s 2000 girls’ team that were CIF finalist teams. 

He was also an assistant coach for the Cougar's fastpitch team for the 2007 and 2008 seasons.

Stupar graduated from Wm. S. Hart High School, where he played soccer, basketball and competed in track for the Indians.  He was named second team All-Foothill League in his junior and senior years of soccer and first team All-FL as a sprinter on the track team.  Before playing soccer for Hart, he competed in the Santa Clarita Spurs Club and in 1986 and 1987 was part of the Olympic Development Program’s California State Select team.

He received an Associate in  Arts degree in humanities from Canyons in 1993 and then a Bachelor of Arts degree in kinesiology from Cal State Northridge in 1996, and competed two years playing for the Matadors, who played Div. I in those seasons.

He earned his master’s degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in pedagogy and coaching from CSUN in 2007.

After his intercollegiate career, he played five years of semi-professional soccer with D.O.X.A., the farm team for the San Jose Quakes of the MLS, and the South Bay Bruins. 

He resides in Valencia with sons Jerry Jr. (16) and Justin (13).
