AVC Men's Soccer had another impressive showing as the beat undefeated Clovis 5-2 at home. Bryan Lima led the way with two goals. The Crush came into AVC with an unbeaten 4-0 record and had only given up one goal so far this season. It appeared early on that they might improve on that record as they jumped to the early lead in the 18th minute on a goal by Saul Allen Sanchez. But AVC answered back with an unassisted goal from Bryan Lima at the 31:26 mark. Lima finished the match with two goals and one assist.
The Marauders seemed to find their offensive groove in the second half as they outscored Clovis 4-1. Rodrigo Martinez would score an unassisted goal in the 61st minute to restart the offense. Martinez finished with one goal and one assist. In the 62nd minute, Bryan Lima scored his second goal of the day off an assist from Martinez.
Kevin Bougha got in on the action with a goal off an assist from Christian Gonzalez at the 74:25 mark. The Crush made a run late with an unassisted goal from Alton Yokley. But the Marauders would answer right back as Miguel Cruz scored with an assist from Lima in the 88th minute to seal the deal and hand the Crush their first loss of the season.
Coach Stupar will take his Marauders (4-1-1) on the road to play in the San Diego Invitational Tournament this weekend, and then again at Victor Valley before returning home to face College of the Desert on Tuesday, October 1st at 5:00 pm.
