MARAUDER SOCCER FALLS SHORT IN LAST PRESEASON MATCH
The Mauraders selected LA Mission College as their last Preseason game to prepare for next weeks conference opener versus Glendale College. " We knew coming into this game it was going to be a war, especially with both of us coaches being CSUN alumni bringing similar backgrounds into this match," stated Head Soccer Coach Jerry Stupar. Systems of play were similar , Shot Chart almost even , with multiple close opportunities to win from both programs. However, LA Mission # 9 just before half had a shot with an uncharacteristic side half volley that spinned off another player inside of the 18 yard box which found its way in the net and a 1-0 lead going into the second half. AVC outshot LA Mission with several close calls but failed to equalize the game in the second half. " We had multiple high percentage scoring opportunities in the last 15 minutes which could have easily gave us a 2- 1 win but it was an off day for our offensive team, but a great game to end post season and reflect ", stated Stupar. The Mauraders finished preseason at ( 4-4-2 )
