Bio

An Antelope Valley native and AVC Alum, R.J. Gordon is an offensive thinker who consistently helps to put high-powered offenses on the field. Gordon has been on the Antelope Valley College Football Coaching Staff since 2018. He has been the Quarterbacks coach each season. In 2020, he designed the Marauder Strength and Conditioning Program and he continues to help run a program that prevents injuries and helps to create stronger, faster, more flexible athletes while promoting long-term health and wellness.

Since beginning with the Marauders, Gordon has tutored multiple quarterbacks that have gone on to play at the Division 1 level. One of those quarterbacks, Tyler Selvig, was First Team All-Conference at Antelope Valley College and is currently playing for The University of South Dakota.

Before joining the coaching staff at AVC, Gordon was finishing his own career as a student-athlete. After 3 seasons as a varsity starter, 2 first-team all-league honors, and more than 5,000 yards passing and 50 touchdowns, Gordon graduated from Campbell Hall High School in 2012.

Following his prep career, he played quarterback at Antelope Valley College, Winona State University, and The University of Pikeville. At the University of Pikeville, Gordon earned All-Academic Mid-South Conference honors as well as earning the Mid-South Conference’s Champion of Character Award. Gordon earned the Champion of Character Award by showing exemplary leadership, community service, academic excellence, and athletic excellence. Gordon has earned an Associate’s Degree in Liberal Studies from Antelope Valley College, a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from the University of Pikeville, a Master’s Degree in Education from Brandman University, and a California Teaching Credential from Brandman University.

Along with coaching football at AVC, R.J. Gordon is a Special Education teacher at Oak Tree Community Day School. He currently lives in Lancaster with his wife Sara and their two Rottweilers, Luna and Bella.
