Bio

John Livermont is Marauder Baseball’s sixth head coach in the last 20 years, but moves to solidify and stabilize the rotating door of coaches as he sets to begin his 14th season at the helm.

In 2007 the Marauders broke school records for wins (27), fewest losses (12) and consecutive wins (10) as the Marauders had their first winning season in 12 years.  AVC also placed a record four players on the First team All-Foothill Conference team.

In 2006 the Marauders won 21 games, the most AVC had won in a season in 20 years.

In 2012, Livermont became the winningest coach in modern Marauder history, passing Joe Watts 107 career wins.  He is modernly the fastest to 100 wins, picking that up in 2012.

Livermont was the head coach at Palmdale High School for the four years before beginning at AVC.  Each of those seasons his teams played in the CIF playoffs, and were second place in the Golden League three of those.  The Falcon’s worst finish in league was third.

“We believe it is important for all of our teams to build their programs with local community athletes.  John has been very successful at Palmdale High School.  He is well respected and has a good rapport with the baseball community and local high school coaches.  We are counting on John to bring the success he had at Palmdale here to AVC,” said Newton Chelette, AVC’s athletic director.

Livermont had been assisting the Falcons at various levels since 1994 before being tabbed as the head coach for the 2001 season.

Livermont is a graduate of Eastmont High School in East Wenatchee, WA and played football, baseball and basketball for the Wildcats.

After graduation, Livermont became a horticultural inspector for the state of Washington, then moved to the Antelope Valley in 1984 and went to work in aerospace for Northrop Grumman, working on both the B-1 and B-2.

He left aerospace in 2001 to become a special education teacher’s assistant for the Palmdale School District.

He received his bachelors of arts degree in English from CS Bakersfield and has masters in drts degree in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia University-Irvine.

Livermont and his wife of 37 years, Tammi, have three children -- Grant, 35, a former Marauder assistant coach, Haley 34, and Lindsey, 32.

He has three grand-children, two of whom have interesting ties to their grandfather and Marauder Baseball. Ella was born on the inaugural home game played at Marauder Baseball Stadium, while Riley was born the day of Livermont’s 100 career AVC victory. His third, and just as important grandchild, is Colette.
