LANCASTER - Following a series opening shootout loss to Glendale, the Marauder baseball team lost a pitcher's duel, 4-1, to the Vaqueros on Thursday in Glendale and finished with a series finale loss, 15-4, on Saturday at Marauder Stadium.
AVC outhit Glendale, 10-7, on Thursday but could only manage one run following an RBI double by Michael Behen that scored Kyle Lathrop in the top of the first inning.
Griffin Hagen was solid for the Marauder on the mound keeping his team in the game. Hagen allowed five hits and three runs in six innings pitched. Designated hitter Zach Diaz was 4-for-4 for the Marauders.
Diaz and Daulton Stanton each had two hits on Saturday, while Lathrop finished with two RBI. AVC only trailed 4-2 heading into the top of the eighth inning, however, the Vaqueros scored nine runs in the eighth and two more in the ninth to break the game wide open.
