LANCASTER - It certainly wasn't the way that the Marauder baseball team had scripted it.
Certainly not.
The Marauders were hoping to snap out of their losing slump against a team that entered Thursday afternoon's game with only two wins on the season. A team that opened the season by losing its first 13 games.
It didn't happen.
AVC dropped to 2-10 at home with a disappointing 6-4 loss to West Hills Coalinga College at Marauder Stadium.
In the process the Marauders have dropped nine of their last 11 games.
AVC got things rolling in the bottom of the second inning with two runs, including an RBI double by Clayton Rabiej. However, the Falcons rallied in the top of the fourth inning by scoring four runs. West Hills Coalinga benefitted from three hits, two walks and an error which helped give it the lead.
The Falcons picked up a couple of insurance runs in the top of sixth inning giving them a 6-2 lead and sending the Marauders into the ropes.
Starting pitcher Shawn Hunt didn't pitch poorly. He gave up only six hits and four earned runs, but he did have eight strikeouts. Aaron Hart was 3-for-5 with one RBI for the Marauders.
