Bio

Coach Gina Wyatt began her athletic career at Highland High School in Palmdale, CA, where she excelled in track and field from 1996 to 2000. As a four-year varsity letter winner, she was a Golden League Champion in the hurdles, jumps, and relays. Gina also earned national rankings as a sprinter and hurdler, competing in USA Track & Field and AAU competitions through local track clubs in the Antelope Valley (1990-1999).

She holds Highland High School all-time records in the 100m hurdles, long jump, and the 4x100 meter relay. After advancing to the CIF SS State Finals in 2000 in the 100m hurdles, Gina accepted a full Division I athletic scholarship to run track at California State University, Long Beach. While competing as a 49er, Gina shattered the school record in the indoor 60m hurdles in 2004, and was recognized as a top hurdler for Long Beach State. She was also an Academic-Athletic Excellence Honoree (2000-2005), a Big West Conference finalist, and a Mountain West Indoor Finalist in both the short and long hurdles (2001-2005).

Gina earned a B.A. in Kinesiology (Secondary Physical Education) and a California Teacher Credential from LBSU. Furthering her education, Gina earned a Master's degree in Leadership from Liberty University (Lynchburg, VA) in 2011.

Gina's coaching career began in 2004 as a sprints and hurdles coach in the Long Beach area, where she trained and developed high school athletes. In 2006 she moved back to the Antelope Valley and started her teaching career. As an Assistant Coach at Pete Knight High School, she helped lead the Knight Hawks to their first-ever Golden League Championship for both boys' and girls' teams. In 2014, Gina became Head Coach at Pete Knight High School, where she led both the boys' and girls' teams to another Golden League Championship. She also advanced sprinters, jumpers, throwers, and relay teams to the CIF-SS Masters meet—marking the first time in school history the teams reached that level. After relocating to Indiana in 2015, Gina coached in Indianapolis and served as Assistant Athletic Director at Traders Point Christian Academy (2016-2019). There, she helped lead multiple athletes to school records, state titles, and league championships.

In 2020, Gina returned to her alma mater, Highland High School, where she served as athletic director (2021-2023) and Head Track and Field Coach. Under her leadership, the Bulldogs won multiple Golden League Championships. In 2024, she guided the girls' team to their first Golden League Championship in over ten years. Gina made history as the first-ever female athletic director at Highland High School and in the Antelope Valley School District.

With over 20 years of coaching experience, Gina brings her expertise, leadership, and passion for track and field to Antelope Valley College. Gina is married to her high school sweetheart and coaching partner, Justin. Together, they have five wonderful children: Justin Jr., Charlie III, Jalen, Isaac, and Gianna. In her spare time, Gina enjoys theater, dance, and most importantly, spending time with her family.
